For Monday and Next Week




Our class starts first thing at 8:30 on Monday,  so please be prepared.   You should spend several hours studying this weekend (I would recommend 3-4 hours).    Additions or changes to this post will be in red.

For Monday:   

  • Get a Google account (such as Gmail) as you will need it to make a blog.
  • Finish your EE readings (especially the Intro. which I will discuss on Monday)
  • Read EE pp.312-314   "Justice and Journalism".  We will discuss this reading.
  • In computer lab,  you will do a vocabulary assessment,   begin and blog and write a post for it,  and do an e-mail task
  • We will discuss learning strategies

For Tuesday:
  • You will give your individual presentation (3 minutes) on "What success means to me"
  • Complete the "Giving Presentations" worksheet
  • We will discuss vocabulary, especially the academic wordlist
  • You will play a writing game and do a writing task
  • We will talk about writing and grammar 
  • You will receive a "Process of Composition" handout to read and prepare for a quiz next Tuesday.

For Wednesday:

  • Self/Peer evaluation of last Friday's group presentation is due
  • We have a computer lab in building 356 room 340 from 12:30-2:30.  You can work on your blog assignments some more.  Blog work is due by Thursday 8 a.m.
  • ML Ch.1 -- we will do p.6-8;   p.7  exercise D is due for homework for today
  • I will give feedback on your essay writing diagnostic

For Thursday

  • Groups will give their Zumo case study presentation
  • Blog tasks are due at 8 a.m.
  • Finish ML Ch. 1 pp.9-10 

For Friday

  • ML Ch.1 Quiz
  • E-mail assignment is due (both digital and printed)

Throughout the week ...

  • We will hopefully have another computer lab (day and room not yet set) and do a listening task, plus work further on blogs
  • You should read RW -- rules 37 & 13
  • You should read and do ML Ch.1

Next Week

  • POC quiz on Tuesday
